The Magnicent Christ this Christmas?

The word magnifcent is really a bit out of fashion. There was a time when it was in fashion - probably 50 years ago when Yul Bryner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, James Coburn et al were legends in "The Magnificent Seven". It was a story of a group gun-slingers brought in by a struggling Mexican town to fight and die (well some of them did any way) for their cheap little town. The magnificent bit is the hardness and courage of these men of violence as well as the somewhat less direct and slowly arriving courage of the townsfolk.
My question to you is whether that is how you see Jesus Christ? Do you see someone magnifient? A man who lived and spoke with outstanding courage in the context of hatred and bitter opposition? A man followed by hard and seasoned men who commands your compliance and obedience? Do you see Jesus Christ thirty three years later, raised to magnificent powerful life after paying a ransom for our so so wrong lives? Or do you see a child in the manger? They are all true ... but some appear more magnificent.
